INTRODUCTION

This article discusses how a weekly payment amount is calculated in the Microsoft Money Budget Planner.

MORE INFORMATION

When you use the Budget Planner to plan a weekly payment, the total amount that is calculated may differ from the total amount that you expected. This difference occurs because Money uses the following average number of weeks per month multiplier to perform the calculation:

4.34821

Example:
Weekly payment = $1000.00
Recurring period = Weekly
Total amount for the year calculated in Budget Planner = $52,178.57
Expected total amount for the year (52 weeks) = $52,000.00

Money uses a calculated average number of weeks per month method to calculate the total amount. Money does not use a four or five weeks per month method to calculate the total amount. Money uses the following method to calculate the average number of weeks per month. This method also makes allowance for a leap year:

Average number of days in a year = (365*3+366)/4 = 365.25
Average number of weeks in a year = 365.25/(12*7) = 4.34821
