SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office Word 2007, you cannot open an existing post in your blog account. And, you cannot upload a picture in a new post to your blog account. This issue occurs if the URL of your blog account contains international characters.

WORKAROUND

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
To work around this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common\Blog\Accounts

  3. Click the appropriate registry entry for the Post URL property of your account. To find the appropriate registry entry, review the value of the registry entry for the Post URL property. The URL in the Value data box of this registry entry matches the URL of your blog site.
  4. To work around the problem in which you cannot open an existing post, follow these steps:
    1. Double-click the PostUrl registry entry.
    2. Copy the value that appears in the Value data box, and then click OK.
    3. Double-click the BrowseUrl registry entry.
    4. In the Value data box, paste the value that you copied in step 4b, and then click OK.
  5. To work around the problem in which you cannot upload a picture, follow these steps:
    1. Open your blog site.
    2. Click the Photos link.
    3. In the address bar, copy the value between "http://%22 and "Forms/AllItems.aspx". For example, the value in the address bar may resemble the following value:

      http://www.domain_name/generic top-level domain/your_blog_name/Forms/Allitems.aspx

In this case, copy the following value:

      www.domain_name/generic top-level domain/your_blog_name

    4. Double-click the ImagePostUrl registry entry.
    5. In the Value data box, paste the value that you copied in step 5c, and then click OK.
    6. Double-click the ImageSourceUrl registry entry.
    7. In the Value data box, paste the value that you copied in step 5c, and then click OK.
