SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You run the Netdiag.exe command-line tool to diagnose the network. You do not specify any switch when you run Netdiag.exe. In this scenario, the DC list test fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

DC list test . . . . . . . . . . . : Failed
Failed to enumerate DCs by using the browser.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods.

Method 1

Specify a /test switch to perform a DC list test only. To do this, type the following command at the command prompt:

Netdiag /test:Dclist


Method 2

Use either of the following editions of the Microsoft Product Support Reporting Tool to run a DC list test:

  • Directory Services Edition (Mpsrpt_dirsvc.exe)
  • Network Edition (Mpsrpt_network.exe)
