APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, when used with:
    • Microsoft Office Access 2007
    • Microsoft Office Excel 2007
    • Microsoft Office Word 2007
    • Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007
    • Windows Vista Business
    • Windows Vista Home Premium
    • Windows Vista Ultimate
    • Windows Vista Home Basic

SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Windows Vista, you use the Open dialog box in one or more of the following 2007 Microsoft Office programs to open a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site:

  • Microsoft Office Access 2007
  • Microsoft Office Excel 2007
  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007
  • Microsoft Office Word 2007

The Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site opens in WebView view. However, you do not see a Views button in the Open dialog box that you can use to change to a different view. For example, you cannot change the view to List view. Additionally, you do not see an option that you can use to create a new folder or to delete an item in the site.

CAUSE

By default, the site is displayed in WebView view when you use the Open dialog box to open a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site in a 2007 Office program on a computer that is running Windows Vista. Additionally, the Open dialog box does not contain a Views, Create New Folder, or Delete button.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, in the Open dialog box, click the forward arrow that is next to the URL of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site. When you click the forward arrow, it changes to a down arrow that displays a list of folders in the site. When you click a folder in the list, a Views button and New Folder button is displayed in the Open dialog box.

MORE INFORMATION

If you perform the same procedure on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP, the Open dialog box contains the following buttons in the upper-right corner:

  • A Views button that enables you to change the view.
  • A Create New Folder button that enables you to create a new folder.
  • A Delete button that enables you to delete an item.
  • An Up One Level button to move up one folder level.
