When you try to share content from your Zune device, you receive the "Can't connect to <device name>" error message

Article ID: 926241

Article Last Modified on 11/13/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Zune Digital Media Player

SYMPTOMS

When you try to send media to another Zune device, you receive the following error message:

Can’t connect to <device name>

CAUSE

You experience this behavior if your Zune device and the other Zune device move out of range of each other. You can also experience this behavior if the wireless feature was on but then was turned off on the other Zune device.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Try to send the content again. When you access the nearby screen again, your Zune device updates the list of wireless-enabled Zune devices that are in range.
  2. Restart the Zune device. To do this, set the hold switch to the unlocked position, and then press and hold the back button as you press on the top of the Zune pad. When the Zune device begins to restart, release the button.
