SYMPTOMS

After you install and configure the Microsoft Availability Reporting Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager 2005, the ReliabilityAnalysisReporting scheduled task displays a status of 0x80040e37.

Note To view this scheduled task, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Control Panel, right-click Scheduled Tasks, and then click Open.
  2. In the Scheduled Tasks dialog box, view the Status column for the status of the ReliabilityAnalysisReporting task.

You experience this problem if you are running version 5.0.5000.0000 of the Microsoft Availability Reporting Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager 2005.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of an error in the Availability Reporting.akm file that is included with version 05.0.5000.0000 of this management pack. Because of this error, the SC_Class_Availability database view is not created in the SystemCenterReporting database when you install the management pack. This view is required by the management pack. If this view is unavailable, the ReliabilityAnalysisReporting task fails and then generates error code 0x80040e37 (E_NOTABLE).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the latest version of the Availability Reporting Management Pack. The latest version is version 05.0.5000.5001.

Note The 5.0.5000.0000 version of the management pack release has an incorrect event collection rule.

  • An update to the Availability Reporting database component

Additionally, this management pack release contains an updated MOM_MRAS.MSI file which provides improvements in the time that is required to generate reports.

How to upgrade to Availability Reporting Management Pack version 05.0.5000.5001

To upgrade the earlier version of this management pack to Availability Reporting Management Pack version 05.0.5000.5001, follow these steps:

  1. Uninstall the earlier version of MOM_MRAS.MSI from the MOM Reporting database server.
  2. If you want to upgrade from a version of the management pack that is earlier than version 05.0.5000.0000, uninstall any Availability Reporting Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in installations that are affected by connectivity time-out issues.

Note You may experience a connectivity time-out issue with earlier versions of the Availability Reporting MMC snap-in when you connect to the SystemCenterReporting database. However, if you do not experience time-out issues, you can skip step 2.

  1. Uninstall the earlier version of the Microsoft Availability Reporting MOM 2005 MP.msi from the MOM Reporting database server if the package was extracted on this server.
  2. Install the latest version of the Microsoft Availability Reporting MOM 2005 MP.msi program.
  3. Follow the steps in the Availability Reporting Management Pack guide to install and to configure the Availability Reporting database components on the MOM Reporting database server.

Note When you remove and then reinstall the database components, existing Availability Reporting data is not removed. Therefore, you do not lose the existing reports.

  1. Import the updated version of the Availability Reporting.akm management pack. This is version 05.0.5000.0001. Then, follow the steps in the Availability Reporting Management Pack guide to associate computer groups to the Availability Reporting management pack.
  2. Install the MRAS_MP_UI.MSI program that contains the Availability Reporting MMC snap-in on any computers that require this snap-in.

Note In version 05.0.5000.0001 of the Availability Reporting Management Pack, the Microsoft Availability Reporting Report.XML report file has not changed. Therefore, you do not have to re-import this file.
