"Business Contact Manager" is not listed in the Search Options dialog box in Outlook 2007

Article ID: 925760

Article Last Modified on 4/25/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2007

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager, Business Contact Manager is not listed in the Index messages in these data files list in the Search Options dialog box.

Note To view the Search Options dialog box, click Options on the Tools menu. Then, click Search Options on the Preferences tab.

If you start the Indexing Options item in Control Panel, Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is one of the items that are indexed. If you click Outlook and then click Modify, Business Contact Manager is listed in the Change Select Locations list.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Office 2007 with Business Contact Manager uses a non-optimized search index. The search feature in Outlook 2007 works only with optimized, or fast, search indexes.
