INTRODUCTION
This article discusses how Microsoft Windows Media Player 11 does not provide an option to back up licenses for protected media.
MORE INFORMATION
Windows Media Player 11 does not provide an option to back up licenses for protected media. Therefore, external content providers must provide methods to do the following:
- Back up and restore licenses in media programs
- Update the license for existing media content
If you copy audio content from a CD with the Copy protect music option enabled in Windows Media Player, and a now problem occurs with the digital rights management (DRM) store on the computer, you cannot restore the media licenses. For example, media licenses may become invald after you reinstall Microsoft Windows or after you move the media content to a different computer. If the media licenses become invalid, you must recopy the media from the original CD.
