Bug #: 50000276 (SQL Hotfix)
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SYMPTOMS
In a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services cube, you use a unary operator in a parent/child dimension. When you do this, you may receive an error message that resembles the following from some cells:
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- You run a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query against the Analysis Services cube.
- The MDX query uses a parent/child dimension.
- The MDX query has unary operators defined.
- A level of the parent/child dimension uses an aggregate operator.
Note The aggregate operators are as follows:
- Plus sign (+)
- Minus sign (-)
- Asterisk (*)
- Slash mark (/)
- The level has at least two child nodes.
- At the child nodes, only one aggregate value uses an aggregate operator. The other aggregate values use the neutral operator.
Note The neutral operator is the tilde (~).
RESOLUTION
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.
