SYMPTOMS

When you create a calendar event that is dated on or after March 11, 2007 in Microsoft Entourage 2004 for Mac, the time for the event is displayed incorrectly. The start times and the end times for the event are displayed one hour ahead of the correct start and end times in all Calendar views. When you open the event, the start times and the end times are displayed correctly.

This problem also occurs for any recurring meetings that start before March 11, 2007, but span on and after that date.

The following are some important points and recommendations for Entourage 2004 for Mac users. Exchange server administrators in enterprise environments should work to implement the following recommendations if they have Entourage users.

  • In 2006, Apple made changes in its Mac OS X so that Mac OS X is aware of new DST 2007 changes. For more information, visit the following Apple Web site: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information.
  • In 2006, Entourage 2004 for Mac was not aware of those changes. Therefore, you experienced the issue that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
  • Microsoft released the Office 2004 for Mac 11.3.3 Update to resolve this issue. After you install this update, Entourage 2004 for Mac is aware of DST 2007 changes. You no longer experience the issue that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.

  • If you use Entourage 2004 for Mac together with one of the following account types, you will not experience this issue:
    • POP
    • IMAP
    • SMTP
However, if you exchange meetings with another user who uses a program to handle meetings and that program is not up to date or is not aware of DST 2007 changes, you or the other user may still experience this issue.
  • You will experience this issue in the following situation:
    • You use Entourage 2004 for Mac and connect to mailboxes on an Exchange server.
    • The Exchange server and the other mail clients (Entourage and Microsoft Outlook for Windows) are not updated to be aware of DST 2007 Changes.
You can test this to confirm this behavior with an Entourage user who has installed 11.3.3 Update and who is working with other Outlook users who are not updated.
  • We advise customers to follow the same strategy:
    • Update all Exchange servers.
    • Update all Outlook for Windows clients.
    • Update all Entourage clients.

For more information about how to update all mail components, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

  • Be aware that Entourage clients who updated with 11.3.3 Update will have issues when they interact with clients who are not updated with DST 2007 changes. To make sure that every mail client works, update the servers first, and then update all the clients.
  • The 11.3.3 Update will make sure that Entourage handles all new meetings correctly that span during the new DST time period. For meeting invites that were sent out before to the 11.3.3 Update and for meeting invites in the new DST window, Entourage will not send meeting updates to announce the adjusted times. As long as the Outlook attendees apply the update and Entourage users are up to date, this should not be an issue. For attendees who are using a program and are unaware of the new DST rules, the meeting times will be off for these events.
  • If you are concerned about this specific issue because it may affect your Entourage users who are working with other internal and external users, we advise that you test and use the Time Zone Update Tools. Exchange Server Administrators can install the Exchange server updates to resolve the issue with existing meetings in Entourage users' calendars.
