SYMPTOMS
You try to do a mail merge to labels in Microsoft Office Word 2007. When you do this, nothing occurs when you try to select the label type in the Label Options dialog box.
Note To start a mail merge to labels, click the Mailings tab, click Start Mail Merge in the Start Mail Merge group, and then click Labels.
CAUSE
This issue may occur if there is a problem with the label information files. The label information files are .xml files that are saved in the following folder:
drive
:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Pagesize
This issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
- The .xml label information files were damaged.
- The .xml label information files were incorrectly modified.
- A new .xml label information file was added, and there is a problem with this file.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, repair the installation of Word 2007 or of Microsoft Office 2007. To do this, follow these steps:
- In Windows Explorer, locate the following folder:
drive
:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Pagesize - Right-click this folder, click Rename, type a new name for the folder (such as Old_Pagesize), and then press ENTER.
- Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
- In the list of currently installed programs, click either Microsoft Office Word 2007 or Microsoft Office
edition
2007. - Click Change.
- In the Setup program, click Repair, and then click Next.
