- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 4.0, 5.0

To undo a renumbering of paragraphs in Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 4.0 and 5.0, do the following:

  1. Select the paragraph(s) from which you want to remove numbering.
  2. Choose Renumber from the Tools menu (from the Utilities menu in Word 4.0).
  3. Select the Remove option and click OK.

The following are two additional ways to remove paragraph numbering:

  • Select Undo Renumber from the Edit Menu immediately after applying the Renumber command.

  • If this is not possible, follow these instructions to remove the numbering:

    1. Hold down the OPTION key.

    2. With the mouse, drag over the numbers and their respective tab markers, or press SHIFT+click while holding down the OPTION key.

    3. Press the BACKSPACE or DEL key. This removes numbering, but only works if you have Word 4.0 or 5.0.
