Paragraph Shading Shifted Upward on UK Paper Size in Word

PSS ID Number: Q51121 Article last modified on 11-02-1994

5.00 5.50 6.00

MS-DOS

SUMMARY

Using Microsoft Word versions 5.00 and 5.50 on a PostScript printer, paragraph shading is shifted upward approximately 1.5 lines when the following conditions occur:

  1. Printing in landscape
  2. Selecting UK Paper Size (11.69 inches wide, 8.27 inches long)

MORE INFORMATION

This problem can be corrected by modifying the POSTSCRP.PRD printer driver using the MAKEPRD utility, as follows:

In the POSTSCRP.PRD text file, you will see four items that say LinedrawAdjust: 60.

  1. Change the 60 to 390 and be sure to keep a space after the number. This large number will push the shading down approximately 1.5 lines to match up with the border.
  2. Use MAKEPRD to convert the text file back to a PRD file.

Unfortunately, if you change your paper size back to United States size, the shading will now be pushed down by 1.5 lines. Two PRD files should be kept, a POSTUS.PRD and a POSTUK.PRD, one for each of the different paper sizes.
