Characters Appear on COM1 with Logitech Driver
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows versions 3.0, 3.0a, 3.1, 3.11
If you are using the Logitech mouse driver with Microsoft Windows, when you start Windows, about four garbled characters are sent through the COM1 port.
This behavior is normal operation. The Logitech driver is searching for the presence of a Logitech mouse. The codes sent through the serial port are necessary to detect the mouse.
The Logitech products included here are manufactured by a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these products' performance or reliability.
