The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, versions 1.x and 2.0


To import FileMaker 4 version 1.0 files into Microsoft Works versions 1.x and 2.00 do the following:

  1. Open the file in FileMaker.

  2. From the File menu, choose Output To.

  3. Select the appropriate fields to save (or click Move All to save all fields).

  4. Determine the proper settings for the desired module, as follows:

    Module Settings —— ——–

    Word Processor Text, Formatted Database Text, Unformatted Spreadsheet SYLK, Formatted

  5. Click Output to save the file.

  6. Open Works.

  7. At the main dialog box, click the desired module once, then click the Import button.

  8. Open the document.

To export Works versions 1.x and 2.00 files to FileMaker 4 version 1.0, do the following:

  1. Open the file in Works.
  2. From the File menu, choose Save As.
  3. Click the Export button and click OK. If you are in the Spreadsheet module, a dialog box will appear. Select the SYLK option, then click OK.
  4. Open FileMaker.
  5. Create a new database (or open an existing one) with the appropriate fields.
  6. From the File menu, choose Input From.
  7. Select the appropriate fields from the list (or click Move All to import all fields).
  8. Click the Text (SYLK if the file was from the Works Spreadsheet) button and click Input to read the file.
