Works: Opening Files Automatically Upon Loading Works PSS ID Number: Q50136 Article last modified on 05-24-1990 PSS database name: D_WorKs
You can open up to eight files at the same time you load Works Version 1.05 or 2.00 from the MS-DOS prompt. To do this, type “works” (without the quotation marks), followed by a space and the name(s) of the file(s) you want to open [including file extension(s)] at the MS-DOS prompt and press ENTER. Each filename must also be separated by a space.
If a file is not located in the directory from which you start Works, you must precede the filename with its directory path.
For example, suppose that your Works program files are stored in the C:directory. If you want Works to open the file named BUDGET.WKS, which is stored in the same directory as your Works program files, you would load Works by typing “works budget.wks” (without the quotation marks) at the MS-DOS prompt for that directory. However, if the file is stored in the C:directory, you would type “works .wks” (without the quotation marks).
For more information, see Pages 288-289 of the Version 2.00 “Microsoft Works Reference.”
