This article was previously published under Q49523

SUMMARY

If LAN Manager version 2.0 server service (running on OS/2 version 1.2) does not start and displays the following messages:

The SERVER service is starting.
The SERVER service could not be started.
NET3057: An internal consistency error has occurred

make sure that the "LIBPATH=" line in your CONFIG.SYS file starts with the following:

   LIBPATH=c:\lanman\netlib;

That is, you should make sure that the first directory on LIBPATH is c:\lanman\netlib

MORE INFORMATION

This ensures that the following three OS/2 LAN Manager spooler files are on the LIBPATH ahead of the identically named files in C:\OS2\DLL:

PMPRINT.QPR
PMSPL.DLL
SPL1B.DLL

LAN Manager must replace these spooler files with updated versions when running on OS/2 version 1.2. OS/2 versions 1.21 and later do not need these fixes. LAN Manager 2.1, 2.1a, and 2.2 do not include these files, because they do not support OS/2 versions earlier than 1.21.
