SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word for MS-DOS versions 4.0, 5.0, and 5.5, when revision marks are turned on, Word marks deleted text with strikethough as if the text had strikethrough character formatting. Inserted text, which can be marked in several different formats, is not treated as if it were formatted with the Format Character command.

To illustrate this behavior, follow the steps below:

  1. In Word versions 4.0 and 5.0, set the Format Revision-Marks Options “add revision marks:” field to Yes. In Word version 5.5, select the Utilities Revision-Marks “mark revisions:” field.
  2. Select some text and delete it. It now appears with strikethrough formatting.
  3. Select the strikethrough text.
  4. Set the Format Character “strikethrough:” field to No. Word incorrectly removes the strikethrough format.

If the revision mark character format for inserted text is an underline, setting the Format Character “underline:” field to No correctly does NOT remove the revision marks.
