SUMMARY

Microsoft Works error message:

Cannot rename file

The following are possible reasons for the error message and suggested workarounds:

Remove the write-protection or seal, or wait until the file is no longer in use on the network.

Close the file, and then choose File File Management (ALT+F+F) again.

  3. You tried to rename a file using the File File Management command, but an existing file has that filename.

Type another filename, and then choose File File Management (ALT+F+F) again.

  4. You tried to rename a file to another drive.

Choose File File Management (ALT+F+F) again, and type another filename.
