SUMMARY

To comply with legal requirements, the Microsoft Word version 5.0 and 5.5 sign-on screens that contain the Microsoft logo and a copyright notice must be displayed. On some machines this screen is displayed for as long as four seconds when Word and Learning Word are loaded. The display occurs when starting Word in both text or graphics mode. There is no way to disable the sign-on screen, as in earlier versions of Word.

In Word version 4.0, the sign-on screen is displayed only when Word is loaded in graphics mode. It is not displayed if Word is loaded in text mode.

In Word versions 3.0, the sign-on screen can be disabled by typing a space after the program name when Word is loaded. For example, type “word”.
