SUMMARY

Charts created in Microsoft Works can be exported as HPGL (Hewlett-Packard Graphics Language) files and brought into Microsoft Word, as follows:

To Create the HPGL file in Works 2.00

1. The chart must be on the screen.
2. With the Print Printer Setup command, specify HPPLOT as the Printer and ColorPro (HP7440A) as the Model. If this printer is not available, run setup and choose and HP Plotter from the list of available printers.
3. Execute the Print Print command and specify that the chart will be printed to a file. The output file name must be different from the spreadsheet name.

Works 2.00 will create an HPGL file that can be directly imported into Word with the Library Link Graphics Command.

To Create the HPGL file in Works 1.00 and 1.05

1. The chart must be on the screen.
2. With the Print Select Chart Printer command, specify the HP7475A (this is a Hewlett-Packard plotter). If this printer driver is not available, copy it from the original Works Printer Disk into the WORKS directory.
3. Execute the Print Print command and specify that the chart will be printed to a file.

Works will create an HPGL file. This file can be directly imported into Word 5.00 with the Library Link Graphics command.

HPGL files can also be imported into Microsoft Word version 5.50 with the Insert Picture command (ALT, I, P).

Note: The printer selected in Print Options needs to have the ability to print HPGL files, that is it needs to be a Hewlett-Packard (HP) Laserjet.
