Word 4.0 Hangs When Using a Radius Full Page Display

PSS ID Number: Q45775 Article last modified on 03-07-1997

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SUMMARY

If problems are occurring with Microsoft Word for the Macintosh version 4.0 on the Radius Full Page Display monitor (for example, the computer hangs), the problems may be related to the version of the INIT being used with the monitor or to the Preferences selected for the monitor. Please note the following:

  • The current Radius Monitor INIT is version 3.7 and is called Plus Display (earlier versions were called FPD, for Full Page Display). This INIT should be located in the System Folder. If it is not located in the System Folder, the screen is still operable, but the Radius Screen icon cannot be found in the Control Panel to set preferences.

To bring up a Preferences dialog screen, either move the Plus Display into the System Folder, or start the computer while holding down the mouse button.

  • There is also a ROM card; the current version of this hardware is 4.1. The version can be seen on the startup logo when starting your Macintosh.

  • Locking when you select Full Menus in Word version 4.0 usually occurs because Preferences is set to a 16-point font in Full Page for the menu bar. Preferences needs to be selected and changed to a 12-point font to prevent this problem.
