SUMMARY
When printing in duplex mode on an HP LaserJet Series IID, both sides of a page must have the same page orientation, either portrait or landscape. If you try to print portrait on one side and landscape on the other, the Series IID will print two separate pages. This is a limitation of the printer, not of Word.
