SUMMARY
In Microsoft Word for DOS versions 4.0 and 5.0, if you load a document that contains a division break or hard page break, search for “^d” with the Search command, and set the “whole word:” field to Yes, Word does not find either the division break or the hard page break. This is because “Whole word:” must be set to No in order to find the division break or hard page break.
When searching for a section break or manual page break in Word version 5.5, the Whole Word option in the Edit Search dialog box must not be selected (no X). If the Whole Word option is selected, Word will not find any section breaks or manual page breaks.
This information also pertains to searching for other special characters such as paragraph marks (^p), tabs (^t), and newline characters (^n).
