Excel: QuickSwitch with Word Copies Excel Chart as Printed

Last reviewed: October 31, 1994
Article ID: Q44018

SUMMARY

When QuickSwitch is used to update a link between a Microsoft Excel version 2.20 chart and Microsoft Word, the chart will always be drawn using the following default parameters:

  • Size: As Shown On Screen
  • Appearance: As Shown When Printed

Thus, a chart's appearance may change when the link is updated if the original chart was copied with different parameters. For example, if the chart was originally copied in color with the appearance as shown on screen, and the link is then updated, the chart will change to black and white if the Print Using Color option is not selected in the Excel Print dialog box (on the File menu). For more information on copying a chart, see "Edit Copy Command" and "Edit Copy Picture Command" on pages 207-209 of the "Microsoft Excel Reference" version 2.2 manual, or query on the following words:

copy and chart and color and appearance and link
