SUMMARY
The fractional widths capability in Word version 4.00 is vastly improved over Word versions 3.0x when used with justified text.
However, it is still not precise in some situations. Occasionally, line ends will not align properly in multiple columns, in the first lines of footnotes, and in hyphenated lines.
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
