Word: Can’t Insert 31 Character Glossary Entry Text with “^”

PSS ID Number: Q42897 Article last modified on 11-02-1994

MS-DOS

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word versions 4.00 and 5.00, glossary entries with the maximum name length of 31 characters cannot be inserted by adding a caret (^) to the end of the name. The following error message will be displayed:

response too long

For example, if you want to view a macro text but not run it, insert the name followed by a caret; however, you cannot do so if the name is already 31 characters long. In this case, you cannot view only the macro text.

This problem was corrected in Word version 5.50.
