SUMMARY
If the error message:
Bad command or filename
comes up when downloading fonts, it means Word can’t find the file that carries out the downloading process. In Word Versions 3.x, each printer driver has an associated file with an .EXE extension. This is the executable file that downloads the fonts. The printer driver and its associated download file must be in the same directory as the font files.
In Word Version 4.00, there is one download file, called DOWN.EXE, for all printer drivers. The directory that contains this executable file needs to be included in the DOS search path.
In Word Version 5.00, the downloading process is included within Word’s internal program code.
