SUMMARY
When running SETUP under OS/2 Version 1.10, SETUP adds the line IOPL=WORD to the CONFIG.SYS file if SETUP does not find an existing IOPL statement in the CONFIG.SYS file. If SETUP finds IOPL=NO, SETUP modifies it to read IOPL=WORD. If SETUP finds IOPL=YES, SETUP does not replace the YES with WORD.
The IOPL statement in the CONFIG.SYS file gives data input/output privilege to a process that requests it. Word requires that IOPL be set to YES or WORD in order for Word to run in Protect Mode.
IOPL=WORD is incorrect syntax for the IOPL statement in OS/2 Version 1.00. The valid options for IOPL in OS/2 Version 1.00 are YES or NO. IOPL must be set to YES for Word to work properly under OS/2 Version 1.00.
