To have the ruler displayed every time you open a window in Microsoft Word for the Macintosh version 4.0, follow these steps:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Commands.
  2. From the list of commands, choose Open Documents With Ruler.
  3. Click the Do button.

Note: This command can also be added to a menu and/or can have a command-key assignment.
