Article ID: Q38063
Creation Date: 15-NOV-1988
Revision Date: 10-SEP-1996 The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word for Windows versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c, 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to locate the next occurrence of a search string in a Microsoft Word for Windows document, you cannot use the Repeat command on the Edit menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Word for Windows listed above. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

To repeat the search, press SHIFT+F4 (Repeat Search). The specific function of this command is to allow you to search for text, make changes, and continue the search. The Edit menu's Repeat command repeats only the editing, without performing the search first.
