  • == Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 4.0 ==

=

When a User 1 dictionary is saved under the same or a different name, Word version 4.00 will open that dictionary (by default) the next time the program is run with the same configuration file and Spelling is chosen.

The location of the user dictionary is stored in the configuration file that is currently open; to see which configuration file this information is stored in, choose the Commands command from the Edit menu and note the file listed at the bottom of the dialog box.

Word 4.00 will store the location of up to three user dictionaries.

Word versions 3.x open a User 1 dictionary automatically only if it is still named “User 1” and is in the same folder as the Word program.
