- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, version 2.0

SUMMARY

In the Microsoft Works draw layer, to get the screen to display white text on a black background, do the following:

  1. Create a text object and choose the black pattern from the Fill Pattern menu.
  2. From the Format menu, choose Color - Black Dots, then choose White from the Color - Black Dots submenu.

Although the display in Print Preview also appears as white text on a black background, a LaserWriter will print the area as solid black. The reason for this is that LaserWriter drivers before version 6.0 map all color formatting to black. Therefore, any text that is formatted as “White” will print out black. Using Apple’s LaserWriter driver version 6.0, shipped on the Color Printer disk, corrects this problem. This driver is available from Apple dealers.

MORE INFORMATION

To print out text in a text object that is filled black, do the following:

  1. Select the text object with the Selection (arrow) tool.
  2. From the Format menu, choose Style, then choose Outline or Shadow from the Style submenu.
  3. From the File menu, choose Print.

Text formatted in this manner will have expanded spacing. If the text object is a linked column, the column may have to be resized.

To achieve the reverse video effect without affecting the character spacing, do the following:

  1. Create a text object in the Draw Layer.
  2. Select the object using the Selection (arrow) tool.
  3. From the Fill Pattern menu, select the white pattern.
  4. From the Format menu, choose Color - Black Dots, then choose White from the Color - Black Dots submenu.
  5. From the Format menu, choose Color - White Dots, then choose Black from the Color - White Dots submenu.
