When you hold down the SHIFT key and click the List button in the Commands dialog box, Word creates a new document describing the menu and keyboard assignments of all commands in the current configuration (regardless of whether they appear on a menu or have a key combination assigned to them).

When you click List without holding down the SHIFT key, Word creates a new document describing only those commands that appear on a menu or have a key combination assigned to them in the current configuration.
