Making Room for Unattached Text Below or Beside a Chart

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 2.x, 3.0, 4.0

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel, you can get blank space below or beside your chart's axes. This is useful if you want to insert unattached text around the chart, but there is no room for it.

MORE INFORMATION

Choose Attach Text from the Chart pull-down menu. By attaching a string of spaces to either the category or the value axis, the chart will readjust to take less room in the window. To increase or decrease the amount of space, switch between Vertical and Horizontal format. To do this, select the attached text, choose Format Text, and check/uncheck the Vertical Text check box.
