SUMMARY

The differences between single-user and network Word are as follows:

  1. Network Word looks for MW.INI, SCREEN.VID, and UPDAT-AM.CMP in the user’s directory, or in the MSWNET environment variable if defined, instead of in the program and spell directory, respectively.
  2. Network Word looks for NORMAL.STY and NORMAL.GLY first in the current (user) directory, then in the workstation Word directory (defined in MSWNET), then in the program directory.
  3. Network Word keeps its files open as long as possible to lock them.
