SUMMARY

Word versions 5.0 and 5.1

When using Microsoft Word versions 5.0 and later, enabling or disabling of the function keys on the menus can be done by using the Show Function Keys on Menus command in the Commands dialog box under the Tools menu

In addition, Show Function Keys can be toggled on and off by going to the Preferences option under the Tools menu, selecting the View icon, and then selecting or deselecting Show Function Keys. This option is only available in Word versions 5.0 and later.

This option is on by default if you have an extended keyboard.

Word version 4.0

When using an extended keyboard with Word version 4.0, enabling or disabling the display of function keys on the menus can be done by using the Show Menu Function Keys command in the Commands dialog box.
