SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, you cannot select and move a line located on top of a guide.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design to ensure that you can access the guides regardless of the type, number, or position of objects on the slide.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods:

  1. Select and move the guide.
  2. Select and move the object.
  3. Select and move the guide to its original position.

  1. Click the Selection Tool button.
  2. Draw a selection box around the line.
  3. Move the line.
