WINDOWS | OS/2

Summary:

The following is an example of a problem with the Freeze Panes command:

  1. Split a worksheet between rows 5 and 6.
  2. Size the window so that only part of row 1 is visible.
  3. From the Options menu, choose Freeze Panes.

Excel will freeze a split between rows 1 and 2, not between rows 5 and 6.

More Information:

This is a result of resizing the window. The split indicator on the scroll bar is moved in conjunction with the resizing. Its new position is where the split will occur.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Excel versions 2.0, 2.01, and 2.1 for Windows and Excel versions 2.2 and 2.21 for OS/2. This problem was corrected in Excel 3.0.
