SUMMARY
For several printers, such as the IBM Quietwriter III, IBM Proprinter XL, IBM Proprinter X24, and Epson printers and compatibles, Word supports more sizes for a given font than the printer documentation lists as being available. The additional font sizes are accessed in the Format Character “fontsize:” field.
The reason for this is that additional sizes for a font are created using the condensed, expanded, and double-high mode. For example, if the printer has a certain 12-point font, as many as three additional sizes could be created for this font. Condensed mode would give 8 point, expanded mode would give 16 point, and double-high mode would give 24 point.
