Unable to Schedule Builds Remotely with Search

Article ID: 256279

Article Last Modified on 6/24/2004

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Site Server 3.0 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Site Server 3.0 Commerce Edition

This article was previously published under Q256279

SYMPTOMS

When you try to schedule a build of a Site Server Search catalog from a remote computer running Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, the scheduling fails with the following error message:

The File Exists

This occurs when you try to check the Full or Incremental check boxes.

CAUSE

The Scheduler that is being used in this case is the one installed with Internet Explorer 5.0. In Internet Explorer 5.0 (and Windows 2000) the Scheduler has been changed and now requires a different command to create a job remotely.

WORKAROUND

The only way to work around this limitation is to uninstall Internet Explorer 5.0 and use Internet Explorer 4.0 on the client computer. This is not recommended or supported.
