Cannot Use Web Publishing Wizard to Publish to Personal Web Pages

PSS ID Number: 255851

Article Last Modified on 10/7/2002

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard 1.0 for Windows NT 4.0

This article was previously published under Q255851

If you try to use Web Publishing Wizard (WPW) to publish to a personal Web page with Microsoft FrontPage extensions, WPW recognizes authentication using the membership directory but may be unable to redirect the Web content to the correct user location. Therefore, any attempt to publish is either unsuccessful or the Web page is published to the root location of the hosting Web site.

Web Publishing Wizard does not work with the personal Web page filter.

To work around this behavior, use FrontPage for publishing.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard version 1.0 for Windows NT 4.0.
