SYMPTOMS

When you configure a computer running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Terminal Server Edition as a member server of a domain and a user with Terminal Server user settings on a trusted domain attempts to log on, the user does not receive the settings.

Terminal Server settings, such as initial program and Terminal Server Profile path are not obtained at logon although the logon succeeds.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server is unable to resolve a domain controller for the trusted domain.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5 (SP5). This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.
