SYMPTOMS
When an Exchange Server Instant Messaging contact is online and is displayed in the Contacts Currently Online list, if you right-click the contact, Send an Instant Message may be unavailable in the shortcut menu (Send an Instant Message may appear dimmed).
CAUSE
This problem can occur because the menu command is only available for services that provide message user interface. Currently, that is only Instant Messaging.
RESOLUTION
This behavior is by design.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
