OL2000: Outlook Hangs Using Outlook View Control

Article ID: 255257

Article Last Modified on 11/5/2003

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q255257

SYMPTOMS

This problem occurs where Outlook displays an HTML page with Outlook View control (ActiveX control). When you display a folder with an associated HTML page with the Outlook View control, if you refresh the current page, move to another folder, or just display that HTML page, you receive an access violation error message.

CAUSE

The problem is caused by the Outlook View Control. If you specified the folder path or folder name incorrectly in HTML page, the View Control will display the Inbox instead of the error message. There was a problem in releasing memory in the initialization process, so this may cause the access violation.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
