When you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, you may find that the program stops responding, producing an access violation error message and generating a 'Dr. Watson' log event.

To troubleshoot this behavior, try performing each of the following tasks:

  • Clearing the cache
  • Changing video drivers
  • Viewing the Dr. Watson log to see if it points to a specific problem
  • Performing a clean start
  • Refreshing Internet Explorer files by using System File Checker
  • Performing a Microsoft Windows 2000 repair

Reinstalling Internet Explorer does not resolve this behavior.
