When you save a Visio diagram that contains a Visio Network Equipment (VNE) shape as an HTML file and view it in a Web browser, the hyperlink associated with the VNE shape may appear to change location.

When you save a Visio diagram as an HTML file, the hyperlink is associated with the text block. For a VNE shape, the text block is often to the right or below the shape.

After you insert the hyperlink in the VNE shape, move the text control handle to position the hyperlink. To position a VNE shape hyperlink:

  1. Right-click the shape, and then click Show Text Control Handle.

The text control handle appears in the text block.

  1. Drag the text control handle to where you want the hyperlink to appear.

TIP: If you want the hyperlink to appear in the center of the shape when viewed as HTML, drag the text control handle to the center of the shape.

  1. On the File menu, click Save As, and then save the file as an HTML document.
  2. Find the HTML file and open it.

When the HTML file appears in your Web browser, the hyperlink appears where you placed the text control handle in step 2.

Not all grouped shapes have hyperlinks that appear to change location. A hyperlink associated with another grouped shape may also appear to change location; however, this behavior is most noticeable with VNE shapes.
