SUMMARY

When you run Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Setup and choose the components to be installed, Setup displays a page called "Component Progress." This page lists the components that you selected and may list one or more instances of "Additional Suite Components."

For example, if you have selected the components MS Exchange 2000, MS Exchange Messaging and Collaboration, and MS Exchange System Management Tools, you may see the following information:

Component Progress
The following components are performing the actions you selected.

Additional Suite Components
MS Exchange 2000
MS Exchange Messaging and Collaboration
MS Exchange System Management Tools

"Additional Suite Components" refers to Microsoft Search. Exchange 2000 requires the Microsoft Search component because the full-text indexing feature of Exchange 2000 is built using Microsoft Search technology.

MORE INFORMATION

When you run Setup with the /forestprep or the /domainprep options, you may see "Additional Suite Components" listed on the Component Progress page. In this case, the "Additional Suite Components" refers to the "forestprep" or the "domainprep" part of the installation.
