SYMPTOMS

While installing Site Server 3.0 Commerce Edition on Windows 2000, when the "Installing Trey Research" message box is displayed, you receive one or both of the following error messages:

Microsoft Site Server
Membership is required for this site to install.

-or-

VBScript
Creation of the Membership Server Instance failed.

CAUSE

Visual Interdev 6.0 was installed before Site Server 3.0 Commerce Edition on Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

Visual Interdev 6.0 must be installed after Site Server 3.0 Commerce Edition on Windows 2000. Please visit the Microsoft Support Site http://support.microsoft.com/support/siteserver for the latest Site Server installation instructions.
