SUMMARY

This article explains the differences between the Microsoft Office 2000 Developer Service Release 1 (MOD SR-1) Fulfillment CD and the MOD SR-1 Update, how to download and install MOD SR-1 Update from the Microsoft Office Developer Web site, and how to install MOD SR-1 from the Fulfillment CD. The following topics are included.

Note The Microsoft Office 2000 Developer version 1.5 CD and the Microsoft Office 2000 Developer Service Release 1 (MOD SR-1) Fulfillment CD are no longer available through the Microsoft Order Desk as of January 1, 2004.

What the MOD SR-1 Fulfillment CD Does

The Office 2000 Developer MOD SR-1 Fulfillment CD is designed to update your Office 2000 Developer programs and supporting files to the MOD SR-1 level. After you apply all of the updates on the MOD SR-1 Fulfillment CD, you will have the following versions:

  • Microsoft Visual SourceSafe 6.0a
  • Microsoft Access Run-Time (full version), including the Access SR-1 fixes
  • Alternative Version of the Access Run-Time (minimum version), including the Access SR-1 fixes
  • Microsoft SQL Server Service Pack 2
  • Workflow Designer for SQL Server, including the MOD SR-1 fixes
  • Office 2000 Developer, including the MOD SR-1 fixes



What the MOD SR-1 Fulfillment CD Does Not Do

The Office 2000 Developer MOD SR-1 fulfillment CD is not designed to update run-time applications that you have previously built or installed. For additional information about how to update run-time applications, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

What the MOD SR-1 Update Does

The Office 2000 Developer MOD SR-1 Update is designed update the Workflow Designer for SQL Server to the MOD SR-1 level and to update Office 2000 Developer and ActiveX controls on a developer's computer to the MOD SR-1 level.

What the MOD SR-1 Update Does Not Do

The MOD SR-1 Update does not update any of the following to the MOD SR-1 level:

  • Visual SourceSafe


NOTE: Visual SourceSafe here refers to the programs that you see when you click Start, point to Programs, and then point to Microsoft Visual SourceSafe. This does not refer to the VBA Source Code Control add-in that you use in the Visual Basic Editor. The VBA Source Code Control add-in is updated as part of Office 2000 Developer.

  • Access Run-Time version
  • Alternative Version of the Access Run-Time
  • SQL Server or the Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE)

How to Upgrade Your Existing MOD Installation with the Fulfillment CD

Access Run-Time

To use the Access Run-Time (full version), including the Access SR-1 fixes, when you build your package, point to the AccessRT\full folder on the fulfillment CD, and then select the Data1.msi file. You can also copy the contents of this folder into a new folder on your hard disk, and then point to that folder when you build your package.

NOTE: If you choose to include Access Run-Time files and have copied any set of the Access Run-Time files into the Program Files\Microsoft Office\ODETools\V9\Runtime folder, those files are automatically included with your package.

Alternative Version of the Access Run-Time

To use the Alternative Version of the Access Run-Time (Access Run-Time without Internet Explorer), including the Access SR-1 fixes, when you build your package, point to the AccessRT\min folder on the fulfillment CD, and then select the Data1.msi file. You can also copy the contents of this folder into a new folder on your hard disk, and then point to that folder when you build your package.

NOTE: If you choose to include Access Run-Time files and have copied any set of the Access Run-Time files into the Program Files\Microsoft Office\ODETools\V9\Runtime folder, those files are automatically included with your package.

Workflow Designer for SQL Server

To update the existing Workflow Designer for SQL Server to include the MOD SR-1 fixes, double-click Modsr1up.exe. Run this file on each computer that is using a component of the Workflow Designer for SQL Server, whether it has the Server, the Developer tools, or the End-User Client component.

NOTE: If you have already run Modsr1up.exe to update Office 2000 Developer, you do not need to run this update again. Modsr1up.exe updates both the Workflow Designer for SQL Server and Office 2000 Developer.

Office 2000 Developer

To update the existing Office 2000 Developer to include the MOD SR-1 fixes, double-click Modsr1up.exe.

NOTE: If you have already run Modsr1up.exe to update the Workflow Designer for SQL Server, you do not need to run this update again. Modsr1up.exe updates both the Workflow Designer for SQL Server and Office 2000 Developer.

SQL Server Service Pack

To update SQL Server or MDSE to Service Pack 2, open the SQLSP folder on the fulfillment CD, and then double-click Setup.bat.

Visual SourceSafe

To update Visual SourceSafe to version 6.0a, follow these steps:

  1. Open the VSS folder on your Fulfillment CD.
  2. Double-click the Readmess.htm file, and then review the "Installation" section.
  3. Double-click Setup.exe to start upgrading Visual SourceSafe to version 6.0a.

How to do a New Install with the Fulfillment CD

Access Run-Time

To use the Access Run-Time (full version), including the Access SR-1 fixes, when you build your package, point to the AccessRT\full folder on the fulfillment CD, and then select the Data1.msi file. You can also copy the contents of this folder into a new folder on your hard disk, and then point to that folder when you build your package.

Workflow Designer for SQL Server

To install any of the Workflow Designer for SQL Server components, follow these steps:

  1. Open the ReadmeOD.htm from the root folder of the fulfillment CD.
  2. Under the section titled Microsoft Office 2000 Developer Installation Notes, click the hyperlink for the appropriate component, and then read the section:
    • Installing the Server Components for the Access Workflow Designer for SQL Server
    • Installing the Developer Tools Components for the Access Workflow Designer for SQL Server
    • Installing the End-User Client Components for the Access Workflow Designer for SQL Server


  3. Follow the steps listed under the section titled To install Workflow Designer for SQL Server component.

Office 2000 Developer Tools

To install the Office 2000 Developer tools, follow these steps:

  1. Double-click Setup.exe.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Read the End-User License Agreement (EULA). If you agree to the terms of the EULA, click I accept the terms in the License Agreement, and then click Next.
  4. Type your product ID, Name, and Company Name, and then click Next.
  5. Under Install Options, click Install Microsoft Office 2000 Developer VBA Tools, and then click Next.

SQL Server Service Pack

To install SQL Server Service Pack 2, open the SQLSP folder on the Fulfillment CD, and then double-click Setup.bat.

Visual SourceSafe

To install Visual SourceSafe, follow these steps:

  1. Open the VSS folder on your Fulfillment CD.
  2. Double-click Readmess.htm, and then review the "Installation" section.
  3. Double-click Setup.exe.

System Requirements for the MOD SR-1 Update

Before you start downloading and installing the MOD SR-1 Update, please make sure that your computer meets one of the following requirements:

  • You have at least one of the programs included in Office 2000 and Office 2000 Developer installed
  • You have the Workflow Designer for SQL Server installed.

How to Download and Install the MOD SR-1 Update

  1. To download the MOD SR-1 Update, visit the following Microsoft Web site:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=db3f766e-39fe-4596-a5e2-388743e6e437&DisplayLang=en


  1. Download the MOD SR-1 Update to your local computer. After the file has been downloaded, double-click Modsr1.exe to extract the setup files.
  2. Double-click Modsr1up.exe to start the installation.
  3. Read the End-User License Agreement (EULA). If you agree to the terms of the EULA, click I accept the terms in the License Agreement, and then click Next.


Important Notes

  • Any user, even one without administrative rights, can install the MOD SR-1 Update on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. However, administrative rights are required in order to update to Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 on a Windows NT 4.0 computer.
  • If your computer is running Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98 with user profiles enabled, EACH user of the computer must install the MOD SR-1 Update when logged on using his or her profile.
